CMB-10: Youtube guide

CMB-10 is a mini chamber, which is made by transparent Acryl, for user install on Test JIGs like TRB-100ST and EK-100ST with known concentration of standard CO2, CxHy or other gases.

About MCDL (Manual Recalibration Logic)

MCDL Logic Concept.
(Manual Recalibration Logic, ELT SENSOR Corp.)

1. MCDL application
MCDL function is suitable for agricultural applications such as green houses or some places which have to keep high CO2 concentration level.
2. Why use MCDL
All gas sensors are subject to some sort of drift and the degree of drift is partially dependent on the use of quality components and good design. But even with good components and excellent design, a small amount of drift can still occur in the sensor that may ultimately result in the need for a sensor to be recalibrated. Sensor design and components have to do with drift. The primary contributor to sensor drift is the normal and unavoidable aging of the infrared light source within the sensor. The natural drift of the sensor is very gradual at a few ppm per month with the greatest drift occurring in the first few months of operation. Therefore, 10 minutes MCDL can be used when sensors show much different ppm in severe condition like as green houses and users also can do MCDL when they can't wait for ACDL logic period.
3. How MCDL works
There are some cautions to use MCDL.

Sensors should be located in the fresh air flowing circumstance near 400 ppm such as the room with windows opened or open places to outside before starting MCDL. It's because the recalibration done at 380~420 ppm gives best accuracy. and the 10 minutes Recalibration must be finished within 18~20 minutes. because MCDL will be restarted the recalibration again. Lastly, people should not exist during recalibration because even a breath of a person has 40,000 ppm CO2 which effect the accurate measurement.

There are two ways of MCDL.

First, users can do MCDL by giving 'Low signal' to MCDL pin. At that time, users have to be careful not to give 'Low signal' to ACDL and MCDL pin both.  ('UART Command Guide' and ‘I2C programming guide’ could be provided by contacting Sales Rep.)

Second, users can do MCDL with TRB-100ST or EK-100 series which ELT SENSOR corp. has developed for users. TRB-100ST enable sensors to be tested and re-calibrated in field without R-T-V (Return to Vendor) process and EK-100 series enables even change or upgrade the MPU program of sensors on customer's side as needed.

About ACDL (Automatic Recalibration Logic)

ACDL Logic Concept.
(Automatic Recalibration Logic, ELT SENSOR Corp.)

1. ACDL application
ACDL function is suitable for residential indoor airquality monitoring. ACDL should not be used for agricultural application such as green house or some places which have to keep high CO2 concentration level. In this case, users have to do 10' MCDL instead of ACDL.
2. Why use ACDL
Virtually all gas sensors are subject to some sort of drift. The degree of drift is partially dependent on the use of quality components and good design. This drift can be up or down. ACDL is designed to correct all sensor drift, including aging of the light source.
3. How ACDL works
Outside levels of CO2 are generally very low at around 380 to 420 ppm. Inside buildings people are the major source of CO2. When a building is unoccupied for 4 to 8 hours, CO2 levels will tend to drop to outside levels. For Air Quality Monitoring Application, Sensor remembers the lowest CO2 concentration during the fixed period and assumes this low point is at outside levels. The sensor performs a statistical analysis to see if there have been any small changes in the sensor reading that could be attributable to sensor drift and the correction factor is changed adjust for this drift. As the picture 1 below shows, Sensor #1~#5 with drift became accurate and kept stable through 1st ACDL once in 2 days in houses and offices. It has base on the statistically adjustment.

4. Period of ACDL
ACDL period is 7days or 30days depending on model. First Calibration is done once in 2days or 3days to make the sensor more accurate by compensating the physical effect during delivery or elapsed time effect on storage.

5. TRB-100ST and EK-100 Test Jig Board
Test and Recalibration Board(TRB-100ST) and Evaluation Board(EK-100 series) are available for convenience.

Sensor Storage and Handling Precautions

Sensor Storage and Handling Precautions

Hold only ‘PCB’ of sensors without holding gold-colored cavity directly to avoid the physical shock.
Avoid to drop sensors. Rough handling or Transportation could result in inaccurate reading.
Proper ESD protection during handling is important to avoid electrostatic defect occurrence. The storage of sensors should be insulated as well.
Do not store sensors in high humidity and high temperature condition when sensors are off. Measurements may show abnormally high figures.
Be careful when install sensors on customer's products not to get effected by vibration/shock which might cause serious damanges. Sensors must be installed away from motors which could cuase vibration and noise.
Try to install sensors close to ceilings when it's installed at indoor places such as offices, buildings etc. as CH4 is less than air.
Highly recommended to do 10' MCDL 1~2 times before using sensors if they are long-term stored.
